More boggards and biking

The statue itself has something of a chequered history.

It was, at one time, stolen and thrown into the nearby Hurtle Pot where it was later discovered under 30 feet of water. It was then recovered by an enthusiastic team of cave divers and restored to its original spot.

Local rumour has it that, nights in the Hill Inn being what they were; the original thieves and the subsequent discoverers, recoverers and restorers may have been one and the same!

A plaque describes the history of "The Statue".

Another piece of local sculpture. Orange 5 mountainbike, made in Halifax. Preferred transport of boggards.

The remainder of the journey was fantastic for its scenery and, at times challenging terrain. This necessitated a short sleep at Crummack before arriving back at Brackenbottom to enjoy the evening, a few beers and a barbecue.

Brackenbottom sunset. Is this when the boggards are abroad? The flat-topped hill in the left background is Ingleborough - the one I've just cycled round.
